Kathleen M. Conkey served as Vice President & Senior Counsel, Litigation and Intellectual Property, MTV Networks, from 2004-2006, where she was primarily responsible for the pre-broadcast review work of the company’s channels, including MTV, VH1, CMT, LOGO and others. Previously, she practiced for nine years at CBS/King World Productions, where, among others duties, she vetted “Inside Edition,” a daily newsmagazine show. As an in-house production counsel to MTV Networks, CBS Television and King World, she was production counsel for hundreds of television programs of every conceivable format. Ms. Conkey focuses her practice on media and entertainment law, working with television networks, newspapers, magazines, documentarians, filmmakers, production companies, internet companies, reporters and writers. She offers advice and counsel on risks and liabilities in the areas of copyright and trademark fair uses and infringements; privacy; defamation; media and newsgathering torts; as well as contractual work and litigation for individuals and companies in all the arts. Ms. Conkey started her law career as a litigation associate at Debevoise and Plimpton and at Lankenau Kovner & Kurtz (now merged with Davis Wright Tremaine). She received her J.D with highest honors from Rutgers Law—Newark, where she was a member of Law Review.
